EIGHT SCRIPPS SENIORS PLAN, INSTALL AND PREPARE THESIS ART SHOW

CLAREMONT, Calif. – After a year’s preparation, eight senior studio art majors at Scripps College present their thesis work at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery with an opening reception on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 between 7-9 PM.

The artists selected by the college's art faculty to exhibit focus primarily on two arenas in contemporary art: mixed media installations and hand-drawn graphic novels. The works address a variety of engaging topics including cyber communication, whiteness, the search for a birth mother and explorations of the lines between life and death. The show is planned, installed, and prepared by Tammy Coleman, Claire Cronin, Kari Gladfelder, Mina Hoffman, Lisa Nowlain, Rachel Raleigh, Nisa Schoonhoven and Elle Wyant.
The reception includes live music and light refreshments. Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibition continues through May 18th, 2008. The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery is located in Claremont at Eleventh Street and Columbia Avenue, adjacent to Baxter Hall. The Gallery is open to the public, free of charge, Wednesday through Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, please contact the Gallery at (909) 607-3397.
